Courtlands Independent Special School

Ask Alex?

"Hi!...My name is Alex. I am a Nutritional Therapist and Nurse Practitioner. Along with Dr Katy Stephen, a local, holistic GP, we founded Blue Skies Health and Wellbeing. The aim of Blue Skies is to care for the whole health of a person. Health is not merely the absence of disease but a harmonious balance of physical, mental and emotional wellness. Through the practice of root cause medicine, we address the underlying causes of illness rather than merely treating the symptoms. We seek to understand how nutrition, lifestyle and environment contribute to a patient’s condition with the goal of restoring balance and promoting long-term health and wellbeing.

It is a pleasure to be supporting Courtlands with their nutrition. What a child eats has a profound effect on how they feel, both physically and mentally. By teaching children the power of their food, understanding that food is medicine, encourages them to make the right choices and consequently feel better in themselves. A diet high in sugar, for example, causes energy fluctuations, meaning it will be harder to consistently concentrate. Whereas sweet treats with natural sources of sugar, such as dates, slow down the absorption of sugar due to their high fibre content. I will be providing the school with nutritional information, such as this, plus ideas regarding what food to serve to enhance the health and wellbeing of all involved with the school."

Please contact me if you need any information regarding your child's health, wellbeing or to get any further ideas on recipes and nutrition.

Look forward to hearing from you...and check out my recipe ideas in the side column!!
